Year Supply

At church we are counseled to live providently and have an extra supply of food, money and other essentials in order to be prepared in case of any disaster or misfortune. Lately we have been working on increasing our supply of food storage and also have been brainstorming ways our family can be better at provident living. 

This week we received a special package in the mail to a "Bright Now Dental" at our address. It was 100 tubes of Colgate Total toothpaste. We called Colgate and told them that our house is not a dental office (last time we checked), but they didn't really know where the package was supposed to go, so they said to go ahead and keep it. 

SWEET! We may not have a year supply of food, but I am pretty sure we are covered on toothpaste for quite a while. 

Sorry Crest, looks like we are Colgate people now!

Happy Easter 2009

We had a great Easter. We dyed, we hunted, we dressed and we ate. That pretty much sums it up...

Bridger loved dying Easter eggs. I have memories of my mom using our dyed eggs in our potato salad and to make deviled eggs. It would be fun to have colored eggs in these dishes because we knew they were our eggs (and she probably was wondering what to do with 4 dozen colorful eggs at the end of the day). 

The next morning Bridger decided to make his own breakfast. Apparently it is pretty hard for two year olds to crack a hard boiled egg. Needless to say, these did not make it to the potato salad.

We also hit a few of the community Egg Hunts and found some friends in addition to the candy

I also tried to dress my kids up cute on Easter, but neither felt like posing for a picture for posterity sake. Bridger would not pose without this Q-Tip. This was the only picture without the Q-tip sticking out of his ear.

Kacy was trying to figure out what Bridger was doing. This was the best one I got with Bridger and Kacy together.
We enjoyed Easter Dinner with my cousins. The girls were darling and loved touching and sitting by the baby. Bridger was off wrestling one of the boys. Ahh.. the differences between boys and girls. Thanks Williams Fam for having us over!

I love to see the Temple

We love living so close to the Portland Oregon LDS Temple. It is beautiful and we love coming home and seeing it across the street everyday. We love taking walks down to the temple grounds with our kids and having them recognize and know what the temple is. I can already tell Bridger has a respect for the temple and loves taking walks to go say hi to the Angel Moroni statue. 



I am so grateful to live close to the Temple. It has a power and reverence that can be felt even on the grounds ouside the building. It serves as a great reminder for this mother that life is all about your family being together forever!

Good Friends & Greasy Food

Last weekend we were fortunate enough to have Jared & Dani in town for a visit (and interview with Jim's company). Thank goodness it wasn't all business and we were able to have some fun hiking to Horsetail falls & Multnoma falls. 

Bridger LOVED Jared. B was super affectionate and friendly toward him - immediately gave him hugs and cuddles. No stranger anxiety there. But, Who doesn't love the Jensens?I was glad to have Dani around - even though she didn't have the twins with her, she didn't entirely get a break from kids and was a helpful pair of hands. There is something about a fellow mother - they just know what to do and how to help, without me even realizing I need/want help.  Thanks Dani!We also had a "Monte Cristo" party. For those of you who may not know what this is let me explain: Picture a ham, turkey and Swiss cheese sandwich, battered, deep fried, with a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top and dollop of jelly for dipping. We first discovered these sandwiches while living in Texas, but I would not recommend having more than one every 5 years or so and even then - only if you have no risk of coronary heart disease in your family.

P.S. We still have that leftover gallon of oil over here, so feel free to come and retrieve it. We certainly shouldn't be having any more fried stuff for a while here.
