Kacy Kisses

I feel the need to dedicate a little post to our little girl.
Kacy is a wonderfully active 14 month old. She is into everything and loves her independence. She is ready to get into everything with everyone else, but knows that she is the baby, and thus the center of our universe. She loves her daddy, and loves to say his name the most (but who's counting, right?).
She loves her big brother, and purposefully copies whatever emotions he is feeling - happy, sad, angry, frustrated, etc - with imitation that is worthy of an Oscar. We are counting down the day to her 18 month mark, because church is pretty impossible with her level of activity.
She thinks it is hilarious to "run away" from whomever may be trying to round her up. She loves books and puppets and cars and pots & pans. She blows kisses whenever she hears "I love you". She loves talking on a cell phone, and knows when we hand her a fake.

We love our little girl!

Backyard Project

We recently finished your first big "new home project" beyond moving in and painting some rooms. Our backyard was starting to slope off into the green space behind our house, causing our fence to lean over and a big decline to form in the yard. We had great fears that this little mudslide happening in our own backyard would soon cause our foundation to move, which in turn would cause our house to literally fall apart - not an ideal situation. So, Jim took down the fence and we had a new, stone retaining wall built.

During the project:
After: We really loved how taking down the fence opened up the area and let a lot more sunshine onto our yard. We had some stairs put in so we could easily access the green space behind our house.
The good looking wall...
View from the deck of the green space:
So, we are feeling pretty good on how things turned out - we really liked our contractor and think he did great work. We now feel like our whole backyard isn't going to slide off to the abyss. Also, we feel the need to pat ourselves on the back since we were showing our "adult side" by actually getting this taken care of, rather than splurge on a vacation or other treat. Our small backyard feels more open and we now are deciding how to tame the green space to our advantage so we can actually enjoy the area back there. Any suggestions? A garden? Fire pit? Sand box? Oh... the possibilities!

Alive and Well

The purpose of this post is to assure our loving and concerned Grandparents and Great-Grandparents out there that everyone in our household is alive and well.
These little rascals keep us busy and on our toes, as they are learning the art of teaming up together to gang up on their parents. This mischievous match-up often result in messes, noise-making, dancing parties, race-running, laughing, and all around busy-ness.
It is fun to see Bridger and Kacy really enjoy playing together. Kacy has always enjoyed following Bridger around. More and more, the feeling is actually being reciprocated with Bridger enjoying following Kacy around, too.
Bridger and I have also had some hilarious conversations lately. The other day during breakfast, he intently looked into my eyes and said: "Mom, when I get older, I will go to Arizona, but you will stay at your house." Apparently I am not invited to the next Mineer Family Reunion.

He really must have grandparents on the brain because a short while later, we were driving in the car and I told him he needed to be quiet for a few minutes while I call grandma on the phone. "Grandma! Grandma! She is my favorite!" came the reply.
Unfortunately (for me), Bridger is also loosing his internal need to have a daily nap. I have been hanging onto his naps as long as I can, especially because most days I can get B's nap to overlap with Kacy's nap. Today was a day Bridger decided he did not need a nap. I resorted to bribery and then threats, by telling him he can either go to his room and read on his bed for quiet time, or stay up and do chores with me. Apparently chores are not too scary to this 3-year old. He told me he really wanted some "chooses" and could not wait to do some chores. The plus side is that I actually did have some help cleaning the bathrooms today, which doesn't always happen.
So here they are - my cute kiddos I tried to get to sit still long enough to smile and let me take a picture wasn't blurry while they were both looking in the same direction. This is the best one I got, which I really like except for the huge Lightening McQueen night-light in the back ground. Oh well!
