John Day Fossil Beds

Road trip!
For Memorial Day we headed to central Oregon to the John Day Fossil Beds.
We stayed in Dayville, OR, in an apartment behind the Post office. This quaint, small town had a tree that was 23 1/2 feet around nada great little park across from the post office that the kids loved.

We went to Fossil, OR and got to dig for fossils! Behind the high school in Fossill, they provide tools and buckets. Bridger and Jim were especially good at finding fossils of leaves, roots, vines and ferns.
We also did quite a bit of hiking around the John Day Fossil Beds. There are different areas where you can go hike around the places larger fossils have been found and view rocky layers that date back millions if years.

Kids are watching an archeologist use her tools to uncover a fossil.

Painter Sands

The kids loved chasing the three cats that lived under the post office, too. After all our fun with the fossils, I think this is what they remember the most.

200k

Our '98 Honda Accord hit 200,000 miles one evening when Jim got home from work. To celebrate everyone piles into the car for a quick car party.
This car had served us well over the years. Jim and I bought it at BYU and it drove us from Utah to Texas to Oregon.
The kids thought it was pretty fun to get in the car just to sit in the carport.
This was one of our last celebrations in this car because we ended up trading in this car for a 2008 Honda Accord a short while later.
I wonder how long it will take us to get to 200k in the new car?

Cruise!

Jim and I went on a cruise in April/May. We were on the Royal Caribbean cruise line on the "Allure of the Seas".
These were the pictures the kids were most excited to see...
We were on the cruise as a part of Precoa's incentive travel trip. We had a lovely time with the company and meeting and visiting with so many great  people!

The cruise ship was amazing - one of the biggest in the world. It was very relaxing and great to be pampered.
I got to swim with dolphins! It was an amazing excursion. I got to swim, dance, hug and kiss the dolphin. For a finale, the dolphin pushed my feet to make me fly through the water.
Formal night! Here is my purple dress that was found for me by a classmate if Jim's.
Our stops were Nassau, Bahamas, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and St. Marteen, French/Dutch Virgin Island.
We Got to snuba, drive around the island in Jeeps, and drive powerboats.

Some of the great friends we made- Todd & Nancy from Michigan.

Jim got pretty good on the flow rider.
So fun!

Loved it! Can't wait to do another cruise!

I made my debut in real legit Kareoke and survived. Thanks to all my friends who encouraged me to do it and thanks for taking pity on me and told me I did a nice job with "dancing queen" and thanks to all the loud Latinas helping drown me out so no one could really hear me anyway!. :)

So fun! I could definitely cruise again!
