Jim ran the Mudslinger race in Silver falls for the second year in a row. We rented a cabin and braved the cool morning temperature to cheer him on. Last year while Jim was running there was snow on the ground, but this year we actually enjoyed warming temperatures and sunshine! Our friends, the Plotkin family, stayed in the cabin next to ourselves and Jason and Jim ran the 6.5 mile trail course. The kids had fun playing tag, hide and go seek and exploring the area while we waited for the dads to get back. When we saw Jim round the corner, the kids were so excited they started yelling and whooping and high-fiving, Bridger even took off and ran the lat 40 yards to finish the race with his daddy! Jim did a great job and beat His last years time by 20 minutes! (The absence of sloshy snow probably helped with that!
After the race we enjoyed a picnic lunch with our friends, then the kids skipped rocks and played near a stream until we were all pretty tired and we headed home.
Silver falls state park was beautiful, and we didn't even go see the waterfalls this time around!
